In Case of Unusual Dosage
The usual dosage of Bactrim Tablet is 500 mg given as a single dose in 1 gm divided in half. The dose should be administered intravenously once a day for 3 days.

Bactrim DS is used to treat or prevent infections in children. It is also used to treat certain types of urinary tract infections. Bactrim DS works by stopping the growth of bacteria.
Bactrim DS is not usually used to treat uncomplicated skin infections or sexually transmitted infections in children.

This medication is taken orally once a day. Your doctor will determine your dose based on the type of infection being treated. Some types of infections require a daily dose of 1 tablet to treat. Dose Recommendations for BACTRIM®
BACTRIM® should not be taken with warfarin, anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin), antibiotics (e.g., warfarin), antifungals (e.g., ketoconazole), oral antidiabetics (e.g., glatiramer acetate), or any medications that contain CYP3A4 (e.g., efavirenz, atazanavir, rifampin, ritonavir) to prevent bleeding. BACTRIM® is usually taken for a short period of time (less than 1 week) to minimize the risk of bleeding. Your doctor will monitor you throughout your treatment and may adjust the dose based on your response to the medication.
Important Note:BACTRIM® may cause a severe, potentially fatal, bleeding syndrome. Symptoms of the syndrome include extreme shortness of breath, shortness of breath or swelling of the limbs, arms, hands, feet, ankles, and legs, particularly in the first few weeks of treatment. If you have or have had a history of bleeding disorders (e.g., a history of peptic ulcer disease, haemophilia), liver disease, kidney disease, or heart failure, BACTRIM® should be stopped. If you are at risk for liver disease, you should discuss your treatment options with your doctor.
BACTRIM® is generally not recommended for use during pregnancy. However, your doctor may tell you to stop the use of BACTRIM® during pregnancy. Your doctor may have you take BACTRIM® during or after delivery. Do not discontinue the use of BACTRIM® without consulting a doctor.Consultation with a Healthcare Provider:You should speak with your doctor if you have any questions about your treatment with BACTRIM®.
